3D liana integration and post-production for a Van Cleef & Arpels Cadenas commercial, with BETC.
Overview
BETC asked me to integrate a 3D liana into filmed shots for Van Cleef & Arpels Cadenas. Donald Simonet modeled the liana. I handled the look dev, lighting, tracking, rotoscoping and compositing. The goal was to make the 3D element sit realistically in the footage.
Shader look dev for the liana
The liana needed to feel organic and slightly translucent, while still staying elegant beside the watch. I developed the material shaders and experimented with different subsurface scattering setups to get the right balance between plant-like softness, depth and luxury finish.
