A longstanding partnership with Roger Dubuis
I've worked with Roger Dubuis for years, and this was a new 3D film to unveil a watch from their Knights of the Round Table collection. I wrote the story and directed the film around it.
The story of the Knights of the Round Table
We built the film around the Knights activating an ancient mechanism that alters gravity, shifting the rocks aside to reveal the watch. The team sculpted the Knights in high detail, and I wrote a custom gold shader in Arnold that lets the material flow from the rocky environment into gold across the transition.
The final animation
I directed the film, set the camera on every shot and cut the edit, and handled the shading, lighting and compositing, with a dramatic key light to bring out the Knights' detail. Erwan Stephan animated and modeled alongside me, Morgane Costantini joined on the modeling, and Jérémy Reveniaud ran the VDB smoke and particle simulations that give the scene its atmosphere.
