Crema Nera
CGI fluid and powder shots for Armani Beauty's Crema Nera campaign, made with Velvet.
Fluid and powder for Armani Beauty
For Armani Beauty’s Crema Nera campaign, I worked with the agency Velvet on a series of CGI shots that fold into their final edits. The brief was to animate visuals the brand had originally shot and keep them consistent across the campaign. I laid out each scene for the FX artists, then took the shading, lighting and compositing, giving the fluid and powder a photoreal, luxurious finish, with the team on the simulations and modeling. I also ran the production on the Point Flottant side.
Fluid and Powder Simulations
The team built the simulations: fine grain effects and powder with rock fragments embedded in it. I shaded and lit them so the material read rich and real, close to a studio shot.
Product Interactions
For depth, the shots needed subtle interactions between the product, the fluid and the powder. I lit and composited those moments to keep them polished and luxurious, in line with the rest of the campaign.
Product and Brush Modeling
The team modeled the Crema Nera jar and its kabuki brush in photoreal detail. I matched my shading and lighting to Armani’s own photoshoot, so the CGI sat seamlessly next to the brand’s images.
