Christmas 2024
3D animation and visuals for Balmain Beauty’s Christmas perfume campaign, made with Eiger.
Overview
Balmain Beauty’s Christmas 2024 perfume campaign was made with the agency Eiger, for print and digital across the house’s luxury platforms. Working from Eiger’s creative direction and the client’s storyboard, I handled the art direction of the factory, its lighting and its mood, directed the animation and camera, and led the Point Flottant team through the production.
Concept & Storytelling
The film opens on a snowy turquoise sky above the Eiffel Tower, drifts down to a Balmain storefront, and steps inside a perfume factory where the new “Carbone” fragrance is assembled by graceful robotic arms, before the bottle is boxed and slipped into a Balmain handbag. The story was Eiger and Balmain’s; my part was to design how that factory looked and felt, and to direct the camera and pacing so fantasy, luxury and fine detail flowed as one unbroken journey.
3D Production
I directed the piece, and handled the look development, lighting, shading, compositing and final renders. The Point Flottant team took the modeling, rigging and animation. Every choice served Balmain’s refined identity with a playful holiday twist, rendered at high fidelity so the materials and the perfume hold up close.
Key Visuals
From the finished factory I pulled a series of high-resolution key visuals for the wider campaign, rendered at 18K and delivered in both RGB and CMYK, for print and digital.
Look Development
In pre-production I explored several directions for the environment. One early route placed towering crystal pillars tinted with the fragrance line’s colours, as if each perfume were drawn out of them. Those explorations shaped the factory we built.
Product Visualization
To lock the colourways and materials across the full bottle family, I built automated turntable renders of each product, so the client could review every angle and finalise the presentation quickly.
