Lantern of luck

3D animated perfume bottle and stylized lanterns

For Prada's Chinese New Year 2023 campaign, I made a short 3D film with the Seiya agency featuring the Paradoxe fragrance bottle. Seiya's concept was a stylized take on Chinese lanterns built from the iconic Prada triangle, thin slices of paper in red and gold.

I built and animated the lanterns procedurally with Cinema 4D MoGraph, using fields to drive the colors across each slice, and gave them a slow drift so they read as if lifted gently by the wind. Morgane Costantini modeled the product bottle, and I handled the shading, lighting and compositing.
