Idole Gifting Box
3D animations revealing Lancôme’s limited-edition Idole gifting box, made with Seiya.
Overview
For Lancôme’s limited-edition Idole gifting box, Seiya set the art direction and storyboard. I directed the two films: I did the main camera animation and the editing, setting their pace, the angles and the reveals. The films lived on liquid, reflections and glass, and making all of it read as luxury came down to light and surface. I led the shading, lighting and compositing, tuning the reflections and highlights until the glass and the liquid felt precious, then took the films through final rendering. I also ran the production at Point Flottant, from the client to the pipeline, with the team on modeling and much of the animation.
Journey Through Reflections
The first film follows a metal ball through a dream-like landscape built around Idole. Each time it meets the reflective surface it sends out fluid waves, and those ripples reveal the keywords of the gifting box, building to the reveal of the box itself.
Inside the Idole Gift Box
The second film returns to that dream-like setting and lets the ball guide us through the box, opening its design and the products inside part by part, each revealed cleanly as the ball moves between them.
