3D animation revealing Kérastase's new Glaze Drops, set in a playful tennis world.
Bouncy 3D animation for Kérastase
Kérastase’s new Glaze Drops needed a launch film, and their creative direction set it in a playful, tennis-inspired world. I directed and led the art direction of that world: I built the overall scene layout and camera animation that set the pace and framing of this single continuous shot, and handled the shading, lighting and compositing. The Point Flottant team took the modeling and animation.
A big part of my work was the shading. The tennis ball’s fuzzy surface is real hair, every strand grown with Cinema 4D’s Hair module and rendered through Arnold’s hair shaders. On the bottle, I set up a switch shader in Arnold to control how much of the liquid inside reads through the refraction, resolved at render time. That held the product to the clean, undisturbed look the client wanted, close to a studio pack shot in any situation, and took a lot of work out of compositing.
